When fall starts, there are 2 main themes when it comes to self-development: either rebuilding energy to hit things off your goals for the remaining year or do a fall reset and rethink your goals for this year altogether. I am tired, man. When the air gets crispy fresh, and it is getting dark by 7pm and the days are busier, I do not feel like doing anything.
What appeals more to me is switching to soft approach for self development and self care. Waking up at 5am to exercise? Not soft. Doing yoga or meditation in the evening at home? Sign me up. Doing 5k running? Not a chance. Fast walking outside while listening to podcasts/on treadmill while watching home reno TV shows? Yes please!
The same approach can be used for diet. I am cold without carbs! Instead, I will add seasonal veggies and soups to my diet and feel better from inside. I think doing things that warm your soul and align with your mood is just as self-care as having self-discipline to work on your goals. Why do we need to suffer while doing it? So here is a challenge – rethink how you can continue working on your goals or self care in a more gentle way. Oh, and big ambitious goals? I will continue making small steps towards them and they will be achieved when the time is right.
