“Some failure in life is inevitable. It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all—in which case, you fail by default.” – J.K. Rowling
This quote really speaks to me. In fact, I froze when I heard this the first time and then clicked “Replay” to hear it again.
J.K. Rowling is right, there are so many people who are afraid of taking chances, afraid of failure and responsibility or negative emotions associated with it that they live their life in a way that cannot be considered living. They live in fear, in denial, where they constantly lie to themselves and others, and make themselves weaker every time they fail to try something new. In failing to go after their dreams they fail to become the people they were destined to become, they fail to have a life they were meant to have.
They don’t do things they love or that makes them happy (and satisfied is not the same as being happy), they are not with people they love, or they live in misery because every day they remind themselves about the graveyard of their dreams, chances and opportunities. Don’t do this to yourself, don’t be that person. It is always better to try and fail then live your life full of regrets and disappointment with how it turned out. Be your own driver of your life, your own believer, your own hero.
