First of all, it barely feels like mid May here, in Toronto. It just got to 28C degrees on Friday but now it is back to 14C and it will stay like this for another week. The spring is coming really late to Ontario this year. However, there are still many things I am excited about for this summer. Sharing my list to inspire you to create yours!
What I am excited about this summer
- Avocado oil. I just tried it last month and now I cannot imagine any salad without it. It is just so good! It adds flavour in a juicy and refreshing way and it is also very good for you. And I am pretty sure it is vegan
- Founder’s Original drinks. It is Canadian version of a tequila mix drink and it is so delicious! Every flavour is better than the other, they all fruity and complex. Highly recommend for those summer backyard bbq days
- Movies! John Wick/Balerina, Mission Impossible…and both are just in May/June. There are also plenty good ones on streaming, such as About My Father (strong Meet the Fockers vibes, and Robert De Niro is there too!), Running Point (with Kate Hudson) on Netflix. It you are on Prime, I recommend Reacher, Mobland and Your Friends & Neighbors.
- Indoor swimming pools. I discovered this gem last year when we were looking for a place to take my almost-one year old to. We have plenty community pools that are absolutely fun and very affordable. Bonus points: my toddler sleeps an extra hour every time after swimming!
- Roadtrip! This year we are driving for ten days to Montreal and Mount Tremblant and I am very excited about all the adventures I am about to share with my husband, toddler a two dogs. The good part is that all hotels we have booked have swimming pools and breakfast included. Mama needs her rest
- Shein. I know it is not groundbreaking at this point, but boy they have clothing in every style, in every color, for a half price or less comparing to even Amazon. They also ship fast and I usually receive my items a week after I have ordered
- Plantifique Korean Face Serum for Gua Sha Massage. I copied the whole name from Amazon to make it easy for you. While I love how my face feels after gua sha massage, I hate that I have to wash off all the oil and it is just messy. But this serum has oils included and yet it feels like a cream, and yet gua sha slides perfectly on it. It also smells divine, like a trip to a spa. Life changing
- Productive farm visits. There are many special farms that do get what it is like to have a toddler and potential setup one needs to be occupied for hours (not just pet farms but also bouncing castles, sandbox and a bunch of other things one can climb). I love a good farm that has it all AND a good store/farm goodies. Here is the list of things I usually get in one and then the rest of the month feels like I returned from vacation: hand-made soaps infused with essential oils (heaven!), blueberry syrup (perfect for Sunday crepes), special mustard, dark maple syrup (same destination as blueberry syrup), and, of course, fresh fruits/veggies/sausages/donuts. I also have a special weakness for all lavender products, especially lavender essential oils, soaps, bath salts and cooking lavender (sprinkle on the cookies or throw it in the lemonade for an upscale look (Meghan Sussex approves)).
- I recently have been gifted a Lululemon small crossbody bag and it is a life changer. I no longer need my purse because all my essentials fit in this little guy. Also I have been skipping purses given that most of the items I carry are usually toddler-related, so it is nice to have something small and easy to carry with just my stuff.
