As Canadian Thanksgiving is approaching, consider meatballs as one of the dishes to make. You can also make it on its own, without the pasta and experiment with side dishes instead, and do not need to wait until major holiday to enjoy this fantastic dish. Below is the recipe for a cranchy meatballs in tomato sauce and cheese that are ready in 40 minutes! Make an impressive dish from basic ingridients you already have.
Ingridients
1.5pd of ground beef
A jar of tomato sauce (I have used marinara sauce but most tomato sauces designed for pasta might work)
1 tea spoon of minced garlic
1/2 to 1 cup of parmesan cheese
1/3 cup of italian breadcrumbs
Spices – italian, paprika, black pepper, salt
1/4 to 1/3 cup of milk
1/3 cup of shredded cheese (e.g. mozarella or marble)
Parsley (optional)
Instructions
1. Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, half of parmesan cheese listed above, garlic, all the spices and milk.
2. Using your hands, make small meatballs. You can make them first or make and add them to a hot frying pan with an olive oil on it as you go.
3. Using 2 spoons keep rotating meatballs so they fry on all sides. This is where the crunchiness is happenning. If you have too many meatballs you may want to split and do a half first then remove them from frying pan and put on the plate. Go for a regular size as big meatballs are hard to cook inside and they can fall apart and small ones can fry too fast.
4. Turn oven on at 425F
5. As you have fried all meatballs, add them back into the pan and cover with tomato sauce. Put the lid on and let them cook for additional 5 minutes
6. Transfer meatballs in tomato sauce into oven safe dish. I have used the one for the pies as it is the perfect size and can work for broiling too.
7. Add parmesan cheese and other cheeses on top and put in the oven to bake for additional 10-15 minutes.
8. Get the meatballs out of the oven, sprinkle with parsley and serve hot!
